The Outsiders Projects

It's that time of year, folks!

We have read The Outsiders
and completed many activities to
better understand the novel.
Today we are finalizing our group projects
for presentation on Monday.
Students really like the opportunity to analyze
a particular character from the novel
and to evaluate one another's work.

Below are some photos of students
working hard for the gallery walk next week.

Question of the week

I asked my dad a question about basketball.  When did you start playing and when did you stop playing basketball and why?  His answer was, when he started playing he was in seventh and eighth grade in willows. He was one of the best players on the team and he put all his effort into basketball.  My dad said that basketball was his favorite sport and he would practice everyday with his buddies.  My dad also said, “No pain no gain.”  He stopped playing in high school because he couldn’t afford it and he moved to chico so he had no friends.  I am proud of my dad because he didn’t get to play throughout high school but he was a good basketball player.  As of today, I look up to my dad as a reference and an idol for basketball.  He encourages me and tells me to do my best.

This is a busy time of the school year,
inside and outside of the classroom.
I have fallen behind on these blog posts.
Since I have Growth Mindset, I will not give up!
Instead, I'll offer you some more
AMAZING podcasts from our staff at Chico Junior.

Question Of The Week

If you could have any celebrity chef cook you a meal who would it be and what would you have them cook you. Why?

Dad: “Robert Irvine- I would have him cook his favorite dinner, because if it's his favorite, then I know he will cook it special. And I chose Robert because I believe that he is the best, and I like the fact that he can beat up all of the other chefs. I also like how he does a lot of charities and when he had his one show where he cooked for people serving in the military and firefighters and police officers.”

Mom: “Curtis Stone- Pesto salmon with linguine. I would pick Curtis because I think he is cute and it sounds yummy.”

Cathy: “I absolutely love Jamie Oliver. He has really accessible recipes, great cookbooks, healthy and family friendly meals. I love everything he stands for in terms of healthy school lunches, farm to table, and family. And I think I’d have him cook something British.”
